I was born and raised in Bryan. I am a graduate of Bryan High School and Texas A&M University. I want to serve this community, I want to serve my people! My campaign is all about the people! I would like to see our state return to a government that is for the people, by the people, and of the people.
Platform
EDUCATION
First, we will put educators in charge of education. We will work to reorganize and refocus the education budget. We will introduce legislation that will prevent a decrease in the education budget; it can only go up not down. We will outsource professional development to private companies such as the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching to better support our teachers. Finally, we will extend the sales tax to all online sales (this is not a new tax, many companies already charge online sales tax, this is merely an extenuation of an existing tax) at the same tax rate; this will generate over 1.2 billion dollars annually which will be used to increase the base pay for our teachers.
Family
As of today, police legally cannot enforce court-ordered parent visitation, coming from a divorced family this is an issue that I am passionate about, we will enable Police officers to help enforce the court's orders so parents can see their children.
Budget
The Texas Budget is set for two years which can cause issues when unexpected disasters occur, we will propose a constitutional amendment that will make a yearly budget, as opposed to a two-year budget to better allocate our funds.
College Tuition/Student Debt
Tuition rates in Texas Public colleges are rising significantly, which leads to high student debt and makes it impossible for some people to attend high-quality education. We will work to make attending Texas Public Universities and colleges more affordable by creating a state-wide tuition rate that correlates to non-tuition profit that the school receives. The higher the gain, the lower the tuition rate. The best example of this is Texas A&M University, who made over $100 million profit off of their football program alone, but their tuition is continuing to increase.
Foster Care/Adoption
The foster care system is broken in Texas. We will work to reorganize and refocus the foster care budget to create more regulations and attempt to create a better environment for the children in the system. In addition to that, we will work to help the adoption process to make it easier for good people to get children, and fewer kids remaining orphans until they age out of the system.
